Learning about HorsesWe start the clinic with a discussion about how to be safe around the horses and how to work in a safe environment. Our teamsters focus for the clinic is safety first and foremost.

Harnessing/Ground DrivingThe students get plenty of time to learn about the harness, how to put it on the horse and how to remove it. They will also learn how to get the horse to go in the direction and at the speed they want to go before hooking them to a wheeled vehicle.

DrivingOnce the students are comfortable with the harness and the lines they will hook the horses to a wagon or cart and start driving. The clinic ends with a long drive around Shelburne Farms, where everybody gets a chance to have the lines in their hands.
