Beginners Driving Clinic - Two full days learning about the thrill of driving draft horses. 

Come join us on April 26 & 27th to learn how to drive a team or single horse. Shelburne Farms, Shelburne VT. 

Learning about Horses

We start the clinic with a discussion about how to be safe around the horses and how to work in a safe environment. Our teamsters focus for the clinic is safety first and foremost. 

Harnessing/Ground Driving

The students get plenty of time to learn about the harness, how to put it on the horse and how to remove it. They will also learn how to get the horse to go in the direction and at the speed they want to go before hooking them to a wheeled vehicle. 

Driving

Once the students are comfortable with the harness and the lines they will hook the horses to a wagon or cart and start driving. The clinic ends with a long drive around Shelburne Farms, where everybody gets a chance to have the lines in their hands.
