Fall Meeting 2011

What a wonderful day we had at the fall meeting. The sun was warm and bright. The horses were well behaved and the food was fantastic. Larry and Pam Newcombe went above and beyond to make sure we all had what we needed. Merck Forest is an amazing place to visit. We had teams plowing, haying and when the work was done we went for a long drive up into the woods. The trail was rough from the rain, but the horses and carts managed to make it to the top and back down again. Some of us went for a hike on the very well marked trails and couple of drivers explored every trail and cabin that was open. If you ever have a chance to visit Merck Forest it is worth it.

Our meeting was short. RoseAnn opened it, we talked briefly about Shelburne Farm Field Day and how great that was. All the teamsters did a fantastic job showing off the skills of their horses and how horse power can still be used on today’s farms.

The club needs to find a place to store the auction topper. This is the truck top that the outside auction happens in. It would be great if someone had room enough to store it and space to work on it. There is some interior work that needs to be done. It is currently sitting out in the weather at the Myers house. Please contact Al Myers if you can find room in a barn or shed to this piece of equipment.

At the summer meeting there was some discussion of having a large animal technical rescue group come and give a talk. I have lined that up with Cindy Cross-Greennia, see the sign up box in this newsletter.

The last bit of news discussed was that Karen Myers will be giving up her post as Secretary. She has done a great job, but is ready to pass it on to someone else. If you would like to be nominated for that position please see the box for the nomination committee.

Our next meeting is our annual meeting. This is the meeting of the year, if you want something to happen in 2012 bring it up at this meeting. We will discuss all upcoming events after the elections of our officers are done.
